Consultant Vascular Surgeon, St Mary's Hospital, London. Involved in investigation and treatment of venous disease in the NHS and private practice. Worked developing new techniques, demonstrating and lecturing worldwide. Liaised with venous disease pioneers for over 20 years. Credited with developing radiofibrinogen scanning technique for detection of deep vein thrombosis. Published large clinical trial comparing efficacy of surgery and sclerotherapy in management of varicose veins. Established centre for treatment, research and training at St. Mary's sponsored by The DOH. A UK leading expert on ovarian vein reflux and pelvic congestion syndrome. Introduced French form of sodium tetradecyl sulphate now manufactured in UK as Fibrovein for the treatment of larger veins. Also introduced polidocanol as Sclerovein from Switzerland for reticular veins and glycerine for venules.
